From the Cormander-in-Chief, China Station, H.M.S."King Alfred" at Hongkong, to British Minister,Peking, dated 25th.,
December, 1907.
With a view to further pressure on the
Viceroy of Canton, the Consul-General recommended the with- -holding of the friendly legislation of Hongkong towards Canton.
Governor deprecates such action, except in
the very last resort, giving good reasons.
If the Chinese Preventive Services satis- -factorily organised, but compassionate allowance "Sainam" claim only offered instead of compensation, do you think that our in- -creased patrol should still be maintained ?
